Egypt: Sharm-el-sheikh. Jul 1998
Seduced by the short(ish) flight, minimal time change and the Movenpick
, we jet off to Egypt. The heat is unbearable in July, especially for Amanda who promptly keels over due to dehydration.

Egypt: El-Quseir. Jun 2001
2 hour drive south of Hurgada takes us to the Movenpick, a spread out, low profile hotel in the
middle of nowhere. A well managed dive centre run by the Swiss (naturally) ensures our safety. After an initial guided shore dive, we are deemed competent enough to go solo and thereafter book
ourselves in and out as we please.

Egypt: Sharm-el-sheikh. Oct 2003
Rescue Course at Ocean College. Amr, the gentle giant, put us and Trudy through the wringer on this
course although looking back that's how you learn. Every time I practice what I learned on the rescue course it gets easier and I grow more confident about my abilities.

Egypt: Sharm-el-sheikh. Sept 2004
Divemaster Course. Ok, this is a minimum 3 week course but Ocean College assured us that as long as we completed the knowledge reviews beforehand we could
do it in 2. Well we only had 2 weeks leave left. To cut a long story short, we worked like demons - so did Jimmy our instructor, in fact all the instructors and staff pitched in to help. We passed but probably by a
narrower margin than if we had more time to work through the practical stuff.

Egypt: Sharm-el-sheikh. May 2005
Back to Ocean College, no course this time, just enjoying the diving. Luckily the group assigned to the Lady Ghada for the week
were all experienced divers so no hanging about in full gear while the stragglers kit up and no looking over your shoulder in case you've lost one.

Egypt: Sharm-el-sheikh. Sept 2005
Instructor Course. We go 2 days early to get used to the climate, got bored, went diving. IDC started (at a more relaxed pace than DM) and as we had such a good group, we
ended with a day in hand. Special thanks to the other candidates who all deserve a mention: Graham, Elouise, Mustafa, Maria, Vicki & Ray - not forgetting Nikki who joined us for a few pool sessions and the IE. For more details

Egypt: Berenice. Oct 2006
Just a quick week in the most southerly part of Egypt to explore some unspoiled reefs and bring some Open-water students up to Advanced.
There is excellent diving from the beach and at the local reefs accessible by hard boat, but we prefer to explore the more remote reefs from the day-boats. All the sites are rich in corals but seemed
lacking in the variety of life seen elsewhere in Egypt (probably due to fishing).

We haven''t seen our friends at Ocean College since becoming instructors so a quick email
to Explorers and off we go. No course, no stress, just Amanda, me and the Red Sea. A few things have changed at The Club since we were there last but everything worked the same and all the staff remember
us (which was nice). Great seing Jimmy, Jilly, Fran & Roger and catching up on all the gossip.
The Diving was pretty much as we expected although I think we had to work harder to find stuff. The Thistlegorm has taken on a whole new meaning since we've done a few wrecks in the UK and we both got a lot more out of it this time.
